DANGER! Conversion Rate Complacency

I was on a conference call yesterday and a good friend of mine and colleague said "...marketers don't know they have this problem." The problem he was referring to was low conversion rates in online marketing. Complacency is the real problem. Thinking that under 3% conversion rates 'are what they are' isn't going to cut it as costs and competition increase.

Low conversion rates are not the best we can do. Any online marketer that's still catching clicks with outmoded landing pages, microsites or deep links is leaving 2-10x their current ROI on the floor. Why? Complacency.

Lead and sale-generation online is an extremely high-value proposition. Marketing leaders have an opportunity and responsibility to show that online marketing is the best and most efficient source of business. Being content with mediocrity isn't going to get it done.
